That's the possibility that a po-dunk gas station has very old, bad gas in it's tanks if they don't sell a lot of the higher grade fuel. And I think there is one legitimate concern you may have. It was the only thing I could find around moab. Point taken about av gas, I will stay away from it. But if I still lived by that jet ski shop in phoenix I'd be blending some VP race gas into it, because I can't help myself : ) Really, all I want is a $5.00 or under gas that burns at the perfect speed, causes no knocking, doesn't add any extra heat to the combustion cycle, and doesnt smell like a dirty sock when I'm filling the tank. within reason for my working man's paycheck of course, I'd be downright uncontrollable if I had a trust fund lol. I want the best tires/oil/seat for my old ass/needle taper/clutch plates/etc because just like my gun collection selecting, building, and cleaning them is just as much fun as shooting them. VP T4 comes to mind as a good choice.ĭoc, as motobike peeps we are famous for blowing money on non existent problems! I'm more prone to making fun of the adventure bike crowd with their guards for their guards and handlebar risers and bar backs to the moon. But I'd consider something that's oxygenated and most importantly has a stoichemetric A/F ratio close to pump gas so it doesn't cause you to go rich or lean. If you really have your sights set on blowing money on a non-existent problem, shop around some of the different race fuels. But I have also run the race gas straight and throttle response is terrible. So I mix 90 octane non-ethanol pump gas with the 112 octane leaded race gas. I have an older bike isn't compatible with ethanol but has fairly high octane requirements. Straight traditional race gas like leaded 112 octane has horrible throttle response. I've not run it in my bikes but I don't this it would run as well as plain old pump gas assuming your pump gas meets your octane requirements. It has very low volitility and it's fairly slow burning compared to automotive gasoline. But it's your money.Īs a pilot, I would not recommend 100LL. I'm not sure why you're trying to solve a problem that doesn't exist. Something about buying 91 from Maverick makes me feel cheated. Just looking for a consistant good gas.maybe 4/1 ethanol free/100LL. I'm sure it'd go unnoticed bouncing down a trail though. Back when I road raced, a good oxygenated race fuel was good for 8 HP in a GSXR, and you could feel it in the throttle response. I'd get all warm feeling knowing I'm running good gas even though it's not a built motor. ![]() I guess i feel like the goverment (EPA) ruined pump gas, which was a needed evil because of the sheer amount we use through daily tranportation. Yeah I know it's probably not hurting my bike, not much down time here in the southwest! If you want wonderful smell, waste big bucks on race gas like VP110, smells fast but costs $10 a gallon ![]() The gasohol absorbs water from the air and forms glop that clogs all the tiny passages and jets in a carb. Fuel Injection can usually handle it, which is what means above. ![]() So if you fill your tank, ride enough to burn half of it and then park the bike for a couple of months, things could be bad. The problem with damn gasohol in bikes is that we tend to not use the fuel quickly. Products that have been opened/used cannot be returned. Most engines love the octane in alcohol. ![]() It will speed up the resolution to troubleshoot any issue with Mototec Support Team.
